Animal Control

The Animal Control section responds to and investigates reported violations of the city’s Animal Control Regulatory Ordinance and other animal nuisance complaints. Animal Control Officers patrol the city’s streets and parks for released animal problems, enforce ordinances and impound deceased, stray or neglected animals.

Missing Pets


The Sterling Heights Animal Control section regularly rescues lost animals from within the city limits and houses the animals in kennels at the Police Department. Residents who are missing a pet may post on the City's website a description of the animal and contact information through the Lost Animal Form.
